Did you know that there are 3.4 BILLION users on the internet at any given time? That's a total of 46% of the world's population that are on the internet DAILY! And the use of people using their mobile device to surf the internet is at a all-time high and it's climbing. There's no better time than to reach people from all over the world with ease and comfort than there is now and blogging is just one tool to reach this population to find your niche, clientele, and share your message!
Have you ever wanted to blog, but didn’t know the real reason behind blogging?
Maybe you know that you SHOULD be blogging, but you don’t know how to even begin organizing your content, ideas, focus or are too overwhelmed with the whole process!
Or perhaps you keep putting it off because you see blogging as a “time sucking” activity.
Many of you have been wanting to write a blog for quite some time, but understanding the real reason to begin may have been a little fuzzy. Until now.
I am excited that this month is Splash into Summer through Blogging! This whole month, I will be teaching you through my own blog on why blogging is so important and how you (YES YOU!) can begin your blogging journey today!
So let’s begin with the basics. Why should you begin blogging anyways? Why is blogging so hip right now? What’s the “big deal” here (imagine hearing Gru’s voice from Disney’s Despicable Me)?
I’ll give you three very good reasons why blogging is a BIG deal and why you should begin blogging as well, especially if you’re an entrepreneur who offers products or services to clients.
Reason #1: You will be showcasing your expertise.
Remember all that training you have that has made you an expert in your field? Perhaps you went to college for four (or longer) years to gain the credentials and the experience to know your field on the inside and out. Remember all those times you spent studying, researching, examining, and talking with people about your expertise? Yeah, when you begin blogging, you want to show that off, BIG TIME!
When you begin blogging, you want to make a name for yourself. You want to become the go to guru for your subject matter. You want people, when facing a problem that you can solve, to immediately think of you and look on your blog to see if you answered their question.
Blogging is a great way to begin exploiting yourself, your expertise and your authority in your given area. It’s a way to be relatable, answer questions, and ultimately, begin separating yourself from your competition because you’re saying, “This is me, this is how I do it, and this is my area of genius.” Stake that claim and don’t waver from it!
Reason #2: You will develop your Brand.
How many of you know or understand what brand is?
I heard it like this once: “Brand is the perception of who you are and what you do when you leave the room.” For example, I would hope by now that you all would say, “Monica is a writer who helps entrepreneurs find their voice and message through their content!” That’s my brand, it’s who I am and the credentials I have has shown my audience my expertise (as well as my experience, training, college training, and background).
Brand is when people can quickly and easily identify who you are and what you do. This is why blogging is so important – it helps your audience (or potential audience) know who you are and what you do. They don’t have to turn to other competitor in your field because they have discovered you and your brand. They also identify with you and your brand so they know, like and trust you.
Look at Apple, Cola cola, BMW, and even Six Sister’s Stuff. People know who they are because of what they do. This is their brand and your brand is your voice. This is especially true for solopreneurs like myself.
When you begin blogging and showcasing your expertise through your content, your brand will be developed from that. People will begin to know, like and trust you because of your voice, the consistency of your blogs, the helpfulness and value you give, and the expertise that you’re showing off.
When a person sees your logo or name, they will immediately think, “Oh! This person does such and such!”
Reason #3: You can find higher-end clientele through blogging.
Go back up to Reason #1 and remember how you spent time, money, energy and much more learning your trade. Now, doesn’t that deserve some attention? Doesn’t that deserve some return on investment?
How many of us are truly getting paid what we’re worth? How many of us are running into lowballers too often? And how many times are we taking on these lowball clients because we’re desperate to make money?
This has to stop in your life! Lowballers are usually not grateful for the work you’re doing, the money and time you have spent learning and developing your trade of genius, and are going to suck the ever living life out of you and your work! They are also going to demand much more from you than a higher end client would.
Showing your expertise and establishing your authority in your field through blogging is going to help elevate you, your business and your confidence to begin charging more and getting paid what you’re worth (therefore eliminating lowballers who don’t really care about your expertise anyways!). It will show people your true worth and the value you’re going to provide when they begin to work with you!
You will begin to attract those who want to pay for your services for what you’re worth. Now imagine a business and a life full of high end clients that are more than willing to pay you because they respect your time, energy and money that you have spent years developing and perfecting! And it was all done through blogging.
These three reasons are just the beginning of why you should blog; I’m not talking about all the other reasons why you should be blogging!
Tune in next Monday to discover how to begin coming up with ideas on what to blog about! I’ll have a Freebie for you to download that will help you know exactly what you’re going to say when you begin to blog!
