Happy New Year!
What are your content marketing goals for 2019?
Is it to add a blog? Video? A podcast to your coaching program?
Experts from the Content Marketing Institute all predict that content marketing is going to be even more important in 2019. Thus, whatever you’re going to add to your marketing efforts, you better plan to add content marketing as a part of it to get seen, recognized and trusted this year.
If you are wanting to add a blog for your coaching or consulting business, then there are a few important key factors to consider as you move forward in creating your blog in 2019.
New Year Thoughts
I love goal setting and planning out my year with new vigor and a whole new set of goals in mind. This year was no different and I am planning on being laser focused and only offering a few products throughout the year and really honing my expertise and my brilliance even more.
Thus, this blog will primarily be focusing on launching digital products with content strategy and blogging. It’s geared towards female coaches and consultants who are desiring to make an impact while staying at home to raise their children.
Thus, I have come up with a mission statement for 2019:
To Impact 1,000 Women Coaches, Consultants and Entrepreneurs to showcase their Brilliance and Share Their Story through the Power of Content Creation and Launching Digital Products while Staying at Home to Raise Their Families, Live Enriched Lives, and Make Unforgettable Memories, while still Creating a Lasting Impact to Their Clients and Work.
My 2019 word is Intentional.
I loss my intentions in 2018 while my mind spiraled out of control with negative thoughts and emotions. I have decided that I will eliminate this from my life by fulling embodying the word and ensuring every single piece of content is geared towards my offerings.
Trend #1: Authenticity will Sale
People are fed up with all the big-talk that is out there. No longer will “I’m rich, come buy from me” is working. People want authenticity and connectedness with those who they want to buy from.
It’s important to note that becoming more authentic and vulnerable needs to be part of your blogging or content marketing strategy, no matter what.
Here are some stats at Core DNA:
- 86% of consumers say that authenticity is a key differentiator that leads to a purchasing decision
- 73% of consumers would pay more for a product if the company behind it promises transparency
- 94% of consumers say they would remain loyal to a brand that provides complete transparency
If you work on providing value first with stories that showcase you and your heart, then you’ll build a following quickly than those who don’t.
Trend #2: Storytelling
Telling your story, lessons, and experiences to become more relatable to your audience is making a huge comeback! I’m a huge advocate of sharing your story, no matter how “small” or “big” it is, it’s vital to share!
John Bucher, mythologist/narrative strategist, Telling A Better Story, says,
In 2019, immersive storytelling and location-based experiences will draw customers to brands like never before. As people crave the experiential, the brands that understand how to deliver them narratively will see explosive engagement.
Trend #3: Adding Video
I know, many of you don’t like producing videos because you feel you need to be dolled up or you don’t like your voice. But the numbers are on the rise for those who would rather watch video than read content now. That is why YouTube and Facebook Live are popular!
Take a look at these stats:
- 75 million US consumers watch video content on a daily basis
- By 2019, video traffic is expected to account for 80% of all consumer internet traffic
- Video content that’s around two minutes in length generates the highest levels of engagement
Adding video to your marketing and blog strategy is just another way to get in front of those who would rather see you than read words written by you. You could be missing out on a huge number of potential clients by refusing to produce weekly videos.
Trend #4: Capturing Micro-Moments
Micro-Moments are the moments that your potential client has an immediate question and searches the internet for immediate answers. Basically, whatever your audience is in need of answers to right away, then that is the content you need to be creating for them in a quick, to the point way (think 1-2 minute videos, for example).
How can you create micro-moments for your audience? You can create:
- FAQ pages
- Instagram and Facebook stories
- Audio content to be played as a flash briefing
Core DNA put it nicely this way:
“The point of catering to micro-moments is to not beat around the bush, and give your audience exactly what they’re looking for so that they’re able to engage on a deeper level with your brand.”
Trend #5: Audio
If you’ve been playing around with the idea of adding a podcast to your brand, then you may not have to wait as long to implement a podcast into your marketing strategies.,
One trend is to create audio for your blog or business so that people can listen to your content on the go. Since the release of Alexa and other voice-activated products like it, it’s important to consider adding audio to let Google know that it can play your content as your prospect drives cleans or cooks.
“You may also consider creating short, quick-hitting audio content for your Amazon Echo-owning audience to include in their daily flash briefings. Marketing gurus Neil Patel and Eric Siu, for example, post a short, daily podcast for up-and-coming marketers to listen to while they get ready for their day.” -Core DNA
Which should I implement first?
While these trends are what is coming for all content creators in 2019, it doesn’t mean you have to implement them all at once! If you haven’t begun blogging, I am going to suggest that you just start blogging and add a video element into your social media strategy (I produce a weekly Facebook Live for example). Work on creating authenticity and storytelling in your blogs and videos.
If you are already blogging, but haven’t started with video, then start implementing video and in the summer or fall of this year, look into expanding into audio to create your own podcast, even if it’s not an “official” podcast.
