“I serve anyone who needs…”

“I help people who want to…”

“People hire me to do…”

BLEH! GAG ME!

I cannot stand hearing from Entrepreneurs and Business Owners on how they help everybody! No one helps everybody! And if you do, then I am almost positive that you have experienced some people who you would rather not have worked with!

“When you speak to everyone, you speak to no one.” ~ Meredith Hill

That quote is 100% accurate for you cannot help everyone because not everyone wants what you have to sell. Not everyone is interested in your product or service. And you know what? That is 100% okay and you want it like that!

If you read the staggering statistics and benefits from blogging last week, then you need to know who you’re speaking to in order to launch your blog. What I am talking about is defining your niche here. And when you begin blogging, you have to have a niche in order to know your content and how you’re going to talk to your ideal audience.

What’s a niche?

According to Google’s Dictionary, here is the definition:

“Denoting or relating to products, services, or interests that appeal to a small, specialized section of the population.”

You see what it says? “A small, specialized section of the population.” That means your product or service is only going to target a small section of people. Which is great because these people are looking for someone just like you and that means they will make a happier and better client for you and your business! And don’t you want them to be reading your blog instead of someone who isn’t interested in what you have to say?

Let’s Begin Defining Your Niche

Great, now how do you find your niche? How do you know who you want to work with? One of the first things you need to do is to notice who you enjoy working with. Who is it that you get lit up when you work with them? Who have you worked with in the past that just made your day? Begin asking yourself these questions because this is how I found my niche: Coaches, Speakers, and Authors.

I noticed that I wanted to work with people similar to who I am because I found that many of my target audience doesn’t have a blog, they are not posting content consistently, and they are not doing a lot with the content they already have. So I teach them how to use their content to create more traction in their business and generate income.

Defining who you are speaking to is going to help you create content that will draw, attract, and convert prospects into paying clients!

After Defining My Niche, Now What?

The next part of knowing your niche for your blog is to ask your audience what their pain is. Your audience wants to get to the next level in their business or life and you have the answer to it!

You want to ask questions that get deep down to their real pain besides “I want a thriving business.” EVERYONE wants a thriving business! Instead, ask questions like, “Why do you want a thriving business? What would that do for you and your business?” What do you think their answers will be?

Once you discover what their answers are, that is the result of what you have to offer to them, thus another way to lead prospects to read your blog

Example: If your audience wants more money to begin traveling and you’re a passive income expert, then your blog topic may be, “How to create passive income to plan your first traveling adventure!”

Here are more questions you could ask to get down to the pain level:

  • What is their struggle?
  • What keeps them up at night?
  • What do they want to learn about NOW?
  • What questions are they asking that states something like, “How can I do…”?
  • What is the NUMBER 1 question people are always asking you?

This will be defining what you’ll be writing about inside of your blog and begin the separation between you and your competition!
